Installing a new Doofor to a used drill rig

Suomen Kivivalmiste -company in Korpilahti, Central Finland, drills black granite in its quarry. In September 2009 the company renewed an old Tamrock Commando™ drill rig by installing a DF420 rock drill on it. Previously, the drill rig had the original 122 –series rock drill, but it was at the end of its life time. Suomen Kivivalmiste decided to install a Finland-built Doofor DF420 high frequency rock drill to the rig. A small oil consumption version, namely the Doofor DF420-HP (high pressure) was chosen for its relatively low oil volume consumption. There was no certainty of the capability of the drill rigs hydraulic pumps as time had taken its toll on their pistons and other parts.

The Doofor rock drill was easy to install to the drill rig. Doofor supplied a carriage plate to which holes were drilled to attach it to the steel feed beam. A fastening plate was welded to the back side of the carriage plate and the rock drill was ready for action. The carriage plate included a pneumatic drill steel retainer lock cylinder. Doofor can supply both hydraulic and pneumatic steel retainers with their carriages.

Suomen Kivivalmiste found out, that the drilling performance was increased notably by installing a new Doofor rock drill although the rig itself was already older. Suomen Kivivalmiste drills 1 ¼” (32mm) horizontal holes and 1 3/16” (30mm) split holes.

DF751 was seen in Ankomak trade fair in Istanbul on 30th May 2006 - 4th June 2006

Doofor Oy is represented in the Ankomak trade fair by it's customer Gemsa ltd. Gemsa is showing their new top hammer drill rig in the fair with a Doofor DF751 high penetration rock drill installed. The DF751 is capable of drilling up to 5" holes (127mm) and for long holes the rotation can have a continuous torque of 1000Nm.
